A wood burning stove should be serviced at least once a year. An annual fireplace service is required to check the integrity of components and clear the flue of any potential blockage and/or creosote build-up (this is highly flammable and can cause a chimney fire which is extremely dangerous).
If you fail to comply with the service requirement, this will result in reduced performance and can place additional stress to certain components which can lead to component failure and cause subsequent damage to the appliance and flue system that will result in a safety hazard.
The manufacturer’s warranty is subject to regular services, which should be carried out by an authorized serviced technician.
What Does a Service Include?
A wood burning stove service includes the following:
- Full sweep from chimney collar/outlet to flue termination.
- Combustion chamber cleaned, vacuumed and polished or sprayed.
- Baffle plate with internal components removed, checked and cleaned.
- Integrity of all other components checked.
- Door rope seal and glass gaskets checked and replaced as required.
- Stove and grate polish, silicon paint and copper grease applied as and where required.
Fireplace Services – Service Details
- Chimney Sweep
- All seams and junction sealant inspected
- Internal Visible Flue pipe (wipe down only) NOT POLISHED
- Hinges and latches checked, adjusted and lubricated internal components removed, cleaned and inspected
- Door and glass rope seals inspected, glass position inspected and realigned
- Unit paintwork inspected and cleaned (wipe down only)
- Glass cleaned
- Quality of fuel inspected
- Report and service certificate

Pellet Burner
A pellet burner service includes the following:
- Full sweep of the chimney from the fireplace collar/outlet to flue termination.
- Combustion chamber cleaned, vacuumed and polished or sprayed.
- Baffle plate with internal components removed, checked and cleaned.
- Door rope seal and glass gaskets checked and replaced as required.
- Electromechanical components tested and the integrity of all other components checked.
- Stove and grate polish, silicon paint and copper grease applied where required.
